The world has gone crazy for avatars, but a lot of them are just pretty cool to look at. Liquid Avatar is a new kind of avatar designed to act a verifiable, secure digital identity.
Available on iOS and Google Play, the avatars are a blockchain-based technology. Using the blockchain ensures security by utilizing Trust Over IP standards, the open-source system developed by the Trust Over IP Foundation, an affiliate of the Linux Foundation.
The avatars consist of different layers. The first is the visual layer, which is what makes the avatars look so cool. You can almost infinitely customize your avatar and get others on the marketplace which have been created by emerging and famous artists!
Avatars are verified using your phone camera and a cloud-based biometric scanner to ensure that your digital avatars are as unique as you, and nobody else can own the same avatar.
Then you have the public and private data layers, this is what makes Liquid Avatar such an interesting project.
Public data is the stuff you’re happy for anybody to see, while the private data is permission-based. You can create avatars for every aspect of your life. Maybe you’re a gamer who wants to keep some aspects of your identity private, but with friends you’re happy to share more. You choose what you share with who, letting you share the information you want to without compromising your privacy.
Liquid Avatar want online identity authentication to become as simple, trustworthy and secure as showing a passport or driver’s license. Their avatars are a huge step in that direction – a customizable, secure and verifiable way to share your identity and data online.
